Staying airside: the essentials
- Lounges: airline lounges and pay-per-entry options; some premium cards include access.
- Sleep: quiet zones and transit hotel options for overnight connections — book sleeping pods ahead on busy dates.
- Showers & food: shower facilities, a wide food hall, and free wi-fi throughout the terminal.
- Luggage: left-luggage services let you roam the terminal light.
The honest threshold
Under 4 hours, airside is the right call. But at 6–7 hours, the math flips: the Grand Mosque is 15 minutes away, entry is free, and a 4-hour tour still returns you with the full 2-hour buffer. You'd trade two more hours of terminal coffee for one of the most extraordinary buildings on earth.
🕌 The 6-hour rule:
if your layover is 6+ hours and your passport qualifies for UAE entry, the mosque beats the lounge.
If it's under 4, enjoy the lounge and don't look back.
